Lottery: The story of Loei Provincial girl is inspired by a lottery saleswoman who tells a story about a dream of a girl who finds a lottery board while travelling back to her home and meets a ‘trunk’ woman. Her dream presents the desire of the woman to save her money from selling the lottery tickets to take care of her daughter. Through a lullaby like song, her life is expressed through the love of her daughter and the homesickness of travel through an I-san soundtrack.

Documentation of site specific performance

This is the land of my life. I was born and grew up here where my family worked as farmers guided by the hands of a woman who I loved as my everything. Mae Yai (my grandmother), was a determined and persistent woman who taught me to be strong and patient. There is nowhere on this farm that we didn’t walk together. While my Mae Yai was a very hard working woman, she was never quite content with the farming way of life. However, on the land of this farm, we were safe, happy and also at times sad, all in all together. It is difficult to explain how closely this place is affiliated with who I am. Even though she has now passed away, this farm remains as a remnant of her own life. I believe in my role as the new generation of my farming family; in my blood our farming power remains. However, in my real life situation, I couldn’t keep this place forever on my own, just as I couldn’t keep Mae Yai with me forever. I can only do what I can do, and use all of my memories to make art. In that sense, I own everything in this place - through my memories that remain with me now, and forever.

Considering the complexities of exchange, TRADE places focus on moments of transformation between what remains and what potentially becomes. Unrequited in movement, for better or for worse, a give and take of unabating development occurs in a balancing act of revelations and interpretations. A loop of phrases turn to questions for each to ask of themselves and those around them.
